Police Investigating After Officer Struck By Car In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Baltimore Police are investigating after an officer was struck by a car in a hit-and-run.

The officer was struck by an SUV in the 300 block of South Monroe Street at Wilheim Street around 12:48 p.m. while he was in a foot pursuit.

The driver fled the scene. There is no suspect information or arrest at this time.

The officer was taken to Shock Trauma with injuries to his left arm and left leg. The injuries are considered no life-threatening.

Police say that it was the officers partner who took them to Shock Trauma.

Police also say that the area where the incident occured is considered a high-crime area. It was in the same area where five people were shot, including a 1- and 2-year-old child.
