Md. Police Arrest Woman For Allegedly Murdering Her Grandmother

JEFFERSON, Md. (WJZ) --- Maryland State Police have arrested and charged the granddaughter of Lillie M. Morris for murdering Morris on Dec. 22.

Hestina Harris, 19, is suspected of murdering her grandmother.

Shortly before 3:00 p.m., Maryland State Police responded to a 911 call from a motorist in the 5400 block of Burkittsville Road near Jefferson. The caller said he saw someone lying in the front yard with no one around her.

Troopers responded to the scene and found 77-year-old Morris lying in the yard. Morris had suffered multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.

Maryland State Police have arrested and charged Harris with first-degree murder, second-degree murder and first degree assault.

Police haven't released a motive at this time.
