Police: Shooting On Arundel Mills Boulevard Appears Random
HANOVER, Md. (WJZ) -- Anne Arundel County police are investigating after a man reported a shooting Tuesday morning near Arundel Mills mall in Hanover.
Mike Schuh was on the scene with details.
The shooting happened after a man left a gas station and was on the road circling the mall around 8 a.m.
The man told police another car pulled up and began shooting at him. Glass shattered as bullets hit his white Honda Pilot.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith says the man had a minor wound that was either a bullet graze or caused by shattered glass.
The shooter drove away. The victim does not speak English so he drove to Glen Burnie where someone could translate his story to police. Police believe the shooting happened between 7 and 7:30 a.m.
The motive is unknown but that it appears the shooting was "out of nowhere." He says there's no indication the victim knew the shooter.
"It's a strange scenario," Smith told the AP. "This is not something you see often at all."
There are no other reports of injuries.
Detectives are working with the many businesses in the area that record surveillance video, but are asking the public for help.
Police are not yet releasing a description of the shooter or his vehicle.
