Police Investigate Attack On UMd. Student

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say a University of Maryland student was attacked on Sunday morning near a campus building in College Park.

WTOP-FM reports that a man grabbed a female student by the neck and held her at knifepoint at about 6 a.m. on Sunday near the Hartwick Building, a University of Maryland campus facility for criminology and criminal justice work. Police say the man demanded that the woman go with him, but the victim was able to break free and run away.

Police are investigating the attack and have not yet made any arrests. Campus police are reminding students that the school provides an escort service for anyone who feels unsafe walking alone on or near campus.
