Police Identify Boy, 5, Killed In Gaithersburg Crash

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Police have identified a 5-year-old boy who died after he was trapped inside a burning car in the Gaithersburg area.

Montgomery County police say Daniel Dana was killed in the crash and resulting fire early Tuesday morning.

The single-vehicle crash remains under investigation, and police have not detailed what led to it. Police say the boy's mother was driving a car that caught fire after a crash off Route 370. Police say fire department personnel spotted the vehicle around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and went to help the woman, identified as Narges Shafeirad. Police say she told first responders that someone was inside the car. Rescuers were unable to remove the child from the vehicle in time to save his life.
