Police ID Woman Hit And Killed By Light Rail Train In AACo.

FERNDALE, Md. (AP) -- Police have identified a woman who was hit and killed by a light rail train in Ferndale.

Anne Arundel County police identified the victim on Thursday as 31-year-old Amanda Payton of Glen Burnie.

Police say she was struck on Tuesday evening. A motorist saw her after she was hit and flagged down a police officer. Emergency medical workers tried to save her life but were unsuccessful.

Police say Payton was hit by a light rail train that was heading south toward the Ferndale stop. Cpl. Jacklyn Davis, a police spokeswoman, says investigators have interviewed the train driver, but the circumstances under which the woman was struck remain under investigation. County police and Maryland Transit Administration police are investigating.
