Police ID Human Remains Found In 2008 Near Frederick

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says it has identified human remains found in a wooded area near Frederick nearly six years ago.

Maj. Tim Clarke says the remains are those of Edwin Philip Hobbs, an apparently homeless ex-convict.

Clarke says the cause and manner of death are unknown but investigators don't suspect foul play.

He says Hobbs would have been 47 when his remains were found Dec. 13, 2008, near the Lake Linganore subdivision between Frederick and New Market.

Clarke says Hobbs had been released about 10 months earlier from the state prison system.

The Division of Correction says Hobbs served 15 years for motor vehicle theft in Frederick.
