Police: Drunken Driver Crashes Into Electrical Box

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Ocean City police say a drunken driver tied up traffic and temporarily knocked out power for some in the south end of the city after he struck an electrical box while trying to elude police.

Police say 24-year-old Alex Little of Dover, Del., faces numerous charges in the incident, including driving under the influence of alcohol, eluding police and negligent and reckless driving.

Police say they tried to stop Little early Friday morning when they saw him speeding on Coastal Highway. Police say Little crashed into the electrical box after he failed to make a turn, causing a brief fire. Police had to close Route 50 in both directions for about a half-hour following the crash.

Neither Little nor any police officers were injured.
