Police: Driver Strikes Marked Police Car In Howard County

ELKRIDGE, Md. (AP) -- Police in Howard County say a preliminary investigation shows a man was speeding and under the influence of alcohol when he drove his car into a marked police vehicle with an officer inside.

Police say it happened Monday at around 9:30 p.m. in the 7300 block of Matchbox Alley in Elkridge. Police say a Toyota 4Runner driven by 26-year-old Dilraj Singh of Burtonsville struck a police vehicle that was parked on the side of the roadway. Police say the collision caused the police vehicle to strike an unoccupied parked vehicle in front of it.

Both Singh and the officer inside the police car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An attempt to reach Singh for comment was unsuccessful. He did not appear to have a listed telephone number.
