Police: DNA Links Dead Baltimore County Serial Burglar To 1996 South Carolina Cold Case Murder

MYRTLE BEACH, SC. (WJZ) — DNA links a dead Baltimore County serial burglar to a 1996 South Carolina cold case murder, police in Myrtle Beach say.

Shawn Marie Neil was found strangled in North Myrtle Beach. Police reopened the case in 2017 and tested DNA evidence that ended up matching Ronald Lee Moore.

Moore died in a Lousiana jail more than a decade ago. He was a named suspect in a series of burglaries, unsolved sexual assaults and homicide cases in Maryland in 1999.
