Police: Boy Dead After Fiery Crash In Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say a boy is dead and a woman is in serious condition after a car crashed and caught fire in Gaithersburg.

Police say passing Fire and Rescue Service personnel spotted the burning car off the road near westbound Sam Eig Highway around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and stopped to help.

After the injured woman told rescuers that there was another person in the car, police say rescuers tried to force the car open and put out the fire, but they couldn't get the boy out.

Police say the woman is in serious condition at a trauma center.  The incident is under investigation and police and fire marshals are asking anyone with information to contact authorities.
