Police: Baby Died After Ingesting Methadone; Parents Charged
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A baby who authorities say died late last month after ingesting meth has been identified by police as 2-year-old Korri Thomas of South Exeter Street.
The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. August 13 and was reported several hours later, around 6 a.m., according to police.
The little girl was transported to University of Maryland Pediatrics by one of her parents, who noticed she was not breathing. She had no pulse when she arrived but was resuscitated.
The child remained in intensive care until August 24, when she died.
Her remains were sent to the Office of the Medical Examiner, where it was determined that she had ingested methadone.
On Tuesday the child's parents, 25-year-old Alvin Thompson and 25-year-old Sinead McNair were arrested, transported to central Booking and charged with manslaughter.
Thompson is being held without bail and McNair has been given a $250,000 bail.
