Police Arrest Man in Overnight Burglary of Glen Burnie School
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) -- Students in Maryland might be enjoying their summer break, but that didn't stop one man from going back to school early Friday morning, according to police.
Just after 4 a.m., officers responded to an alarm going off at Rippling Wood Elementary, located in the 500 block of Nolfield Drive, in Glen Burnie, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
The first officer to arrive noticed the alarm was coming from a portable classroom behind the building and spotted someone rummaging through the classroom, police said. According to police, a rear window to the portable was broken and it appeared that someone was gathering items to steal.
Police took the suspect, identified only as Jawaun Marquis Edwards, of Glen Mar Circle, into custody.
Edwards is charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property under $1,000, theft under $1,000 and trespassing.
