Police: Alcohol, Speed May Have Contributed To Fatal Crash

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say speed and alcohol were factors in a single-vehicle crash that killed an Anne Arundel County teenager.

Police say that 17-year-old Joshua Olshaw was traveling in a pickup truck in Davidsonville early Sunday when he failed to negotiate a right curve in the road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Olshaw was airlifted to a hospital where he later died

Crash investigators from the Traffic Safety Section say the preliminary cause of the crash was Olshaw's failure to maintain a single lane and negotiate a curve in the road. They also say speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors to the crash.
