Police Accountability To Be Topic Of ACLU Dinner

GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- Police accountability will be the topic of discussion at an annual ACLU dinner.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland will be joined by the group's chapters in Prince George's and Montgomery counties on Tuesday evening at the New Deal Cafe in Greenbelt.

The group says the discussion will focus on the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore and other deaths in police custody across the country.

Participants include Marion Gray-Hopkins, whose 19-year-old son was shot to death by a Prince George's County police officer outside a firehouse dance in 1999. Del. Alonzo Washington of Prince George's County is also scheduled to attend.

The title of the discussion is "Police Accountability to the Communities They Serve."
