Police: 2 Dead After Wrong-Way Crash On I-70

CLEAR SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say two people are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 in Washington County.

Troopers were called to eastbound I-70 near Clear Spring for a report of a crash early Thursday.

Police say a Buick Century traveling westbound in the eastbound fast lane hit a Buick Lacrosse head-on.

Police say the driver of the Century, 44-year-old Christopher Crites of Little Orleans, and the driver of the Lacrosse, Marcy Kauffman of Williamsport, were both pronounced dead on the scene. No one else was in either car and there were no other injuries.

Police say they don't know why Crites was traveling in the wrong direction. They say the investigation into the crash is continuing.
