Poinsettia Show Offers Beautiful Holiday Display

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's the most popular plant or flowers of the holiday season and you have a chance to see them in all their glory right here in Baltimore.

Ron Matz has more on poinsettia perfection in Druid Hill Park.

Welcome to poinsettia lodge at the Rawlings Conservatory.

"It's really bright and colorful and it's a symbol of Christmas and the holiday season," said Sandy Reagan, horticultural assistant at the Rawlings Conservatory.

Hundreds of plants all for sale most from just $6 to $9.

"We have some single Poinsettias in 3.5-inch pots which sell for $4," Reagan said. "We have a tri-color poinsettia for $15 dollars."

This lodge even has a bonfire.

"We have the prettiest I've seen and the best selection," she said. "We have an array of colors, so you're not going to see Poinsettias anywhere like this."

It's estimated that $60 million worth of Poinsettias will be sold here in the U.S. in the six weeks leading up to Christmas.

"They were discovered by the former U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, Joel Robert Poinsett," she added, "and they named the flower after him."

A beautiful Baltimore holiday tradition -- poinsettia perfection.

"It's the most awesome time of the year because it's out annual holiday display," Reagan added.

The Poinsettia Show at the Rawlings Conservatory continues through Sunday, Jan. 3.
