Pizza Hut Offering Gluten-Free Crust

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Whether you have celiac disease or you're just trying out a gluten-free diet, one pizza chain in Baltimore is now offering a gluten-free option.

Pizza Hut is partnering with Udi's to provide a gluten-free crust option to customers. Along with Udi's crust, customers have a choice of some of the chain's gluten-free toppings.

"Our cheese-only and cheese-and-pepperoni gluten-free pizzas are prepared using the procedures certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), and we take specific caution when making these pizza," Pizza Hut revealed on its website. "The Udi's® Certified Gluten-Free crust is stored in a separate container, on a separate shelf in our fridge. The cheese, marinara sauce and pepperoni are stored in a gluten-free designated kit, and every gluten-free pizza is freshly baked on designated parchment paper in our ovens."

In addition to the special storage, team members will be trained to wear gloved and even use a designated pizza cutter to keep contamination to a minimum.

However, Pizza Hut cannot say that the product will be 100 percent gluten-free as its stores do have products with gluten.
