Pittsburgh Man Attempts To Carry Loaded Gun Through Security At BWI

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A Pittsburgh man was arrested after police say he tried to bring a hand gun through security at Baltimore Washington International-Thurgood Marshal Airport (BWI) on Wednesday.

Police say the man, who has yet to be identified, attempted to bring a .25 caliber through a checkpoint with his carry-on luggage items. Officials say the gun was loaded with six rounds.

Authorities say he was arrested and is facing weapon charges. The man was scheduled to fly to Miami.

Those who bring firearms to the checkpoint are subject to criminal charges and civil penalties from TSA up to $11,000.

Officials say airport operations were not impacted on Wednesday due to the incident.
