Schools Were Placed On Temporary Lockdown, Since Lifted, After Person Injured In Shooting, Frederick Police Say
FREDERICK, MD. (WJZ) — A school on Heather Ridge Drive was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after police responded to the scene of a shooting in the area in the 300 block of Heather Ridge Drive.
The lockdown was lifted after police investigated.

At around 11:10 a.m., the Frederick Police Department responded to the 300 block of Heather Ridge Drive for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.
As officers arrived, Frederick Memorial Hospital called and said a victim of a gunshot wound had arrived at the hospital. The victim, a man, was taken to an area trauma center for treatment and is in stable but serious condition.
Frederick County Police immediately made notification to Frederick County Public Schools and worked with them throughout the incident.
Police have not identified but it is believed the suspect fled the area in a dark-colored sedan. They do not believe this was a random event, and there is no threat to the public at this time.
Detectives are looking into the facts of the incidents from this weekend to see if any incidents have similarities.
Roads were back open to traffic in the area around 12:45 p.m.
