Pedestrian Struck By Car In Western Maryland Dies

ACCIDENT, Md. (AP) -- State police say a man has died after he was hit by a car while pushing a baby stroller along a two-lane highway in the western Maryland town of Accident.

The Cumberland Times-News (http://bit.ly/1JnzOZ5) reports that 26-year-old Dennis Garlitz Jr. died Thursday. He was flown to a Johnstown, Pennsylvania, hospital after the collision Wednesday evening.

An 11-month-old child who was also struck was treated at the hospital and released.

Police say Garlitz was pushing a stroller along the shoulder of southbound U.S. 219 when they were hit by a Chevrolet Corvette, also traveling south.

Police say the driver left but returned within minutes. A state trooper was flagged down by others at the scene.

Police say the crash is under investigation and no charges have been filed.
