Police: Man On Scooter Fatally Shot In Pasadena After Allegedly Threatening Homeowner

PASADENA, Md. (WJZ) — A Pasadena homeowner fatally shot a man on an electric scooter who allegedly threatened him, police said.

At around 9:30 a.m., police responded to the 1400 block of Orr Court for a call of "threats". The homeowner who called in said a man who had been threatening him was on the way to his house.

He said he believed the man was on his electric scooter coming from a couple of miles away.

When the officer arrived six minutes later, the homeowner came running out, police said.

"Our officer arrived on scene, (and) when he did the homeowner came running up to the officer's car, saying, "I shot him, help, I shot him, help," said Sgt. Jacklyn Davis with the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

The officer began giving medical aid and called the fire department. When firefighters arrived, they pronounced the man dead.

Anne Arundel County Police say this is an active investigation.

"I saw him ride by on an electric scooter, and I've never seen anyone like that and right after I saw a cop. Right after I saw the cop, I heard what sounded like gunshots," neighborhood resident Carli Tilghman said.

The homeowner is being interviewed by detectives now.

Neighbors said the shooting was very upsetting.

"This neighborhood has always been a safe neighborhood, we've never had any problems," said neighbor Tracy Summers. "It was unsettling at the least."

Police say they do not know the history between the two people, or what transpired this morning to cause the man to drive over on a scooter.

Police also do not know if the deceased man was armed.
