Parts Of Md. Under Water, Without Power After Storms

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Severe weather moves through Maryland.

Rick Ritter with more on the dangerous conditions in our state and up and down the East Coast.

Torrential downpours, coastal flooding and cars left stranded--Wednesday's storms quickly swept through Maryland, but made a lasting impact.

"The weather has just been really what I think is very abnormal,"  said Bruce Caylor.

In downtown Annapolis, parts of Compromise Street were under water.

"When the water gets this high, it's scary because your cars are here and you don't know what's going to happen," Caylor said.

Inching its way into some businesses.

Whipping winds left more than 2,000 without power across Anne Arundel County, while rising waters swallowed some cars in Northeast Baltimore.

But Maryland was fortunate compared to other states.

Video shows the path of destruction a tornado left in Waverly, Virginia, killing at least three--maybe more--including a small child.

"We're trying to get a headcount of everybody," officials said.

Widespread damage across most of the Northeast.

The Baltimore City Fire Department responded to nine cars under water Wednesday night. Three people had to be rescued.
