Park Surrounding Camp David Partly Closed During Summit

THURMONT, Md. (AP) -- The national park surrounding Camp David says some roads, trails and picnic areas will be closed during President Barack Obama's meeting there with high-ranking officials of six Arab nations.

Catoctin Mountain Park officials said Wednesday that the Secret Service requested the closures to provide security for the Gulf Cooperation Council Summit.

The closures are scheduled from midnight Wednesday night through midnight Thursday.

The affected areas include all of Manahan Road, and Park Central Road from the visitor center to Foxville-Deerfield Road.

Trails to Hog Rock and the Blue Ridge Summit Overlook are closed, as is the Brown's Farm Track Trail.

The Chestnut and Owens Creek picnic areas are also closed.

The park visitor center will remain open for during regular hours, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
