Parents Of Murdered Morgan Student Say Arrest 'Step Toward Closure'

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The parents of a murdered Morgan State University student say the arrest in his case is a step toward closure.

Jessica Kartalija has more.

His parents said that knowing that a suspect was still on the loose was just heartbreaking. They say they feel some relief but still have not attained closure.

They say for the past two months, they kept thinking that the killer was walking free.

"They have who they thought it was from the very beginning. I'm sure it takes a lot of evidence to come forth to make an arrest," said victim Gerald Williams' mother, Jonee Brown. "It's very sad that many, not just our family, has been touched by this but his family too."

They're happy that someone has come forward with what they saw.

"I'm blessed right now that we can actually put a little peace on campus for the other students," she said.

"We have to send a message to anyone with that mindset that you're going to get caught," said Gerald Williams, Sr. "There's no closure. I stand by that. We try to move on day by day."

Both the suspect and the victim were from Prince George's County.
