Parents Charged With Neglect, Accused Of Smoking K2 With 8-Month-Old Son In Car

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)—Anne Arundel County Police have arrested 20-year-old Annapolis parents after they were found unresponsive in a car—allegedly high on synthetic marijuana—while their 8-month-old son sat in the back seat.

A concerned citizen alerted police around 5:20 p.m. Saturday after noticing two adults asleep in the McDonald's parking lot at 2130 Generals Highway in Annapolis.

When officers arrived to the scene, they noticed an infant in the back seat. Paramedics also responded to the scene and to physically wake up the two adults—identified as Brooke Amber Michael and Michael Patrick May.

Police say May—the child's father—was in the driver's seat. He struggled to catch his balance and his speech was slurred. When Michael exited the vehicle, police say she stumbled and her speech was slurred as well.

Officers found packages of suspected "synthetic marijuana" known as "K2" and smoking devices inside of the vehicle.

Michael and May were arrested and charged with neglect of a minor and the possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Their son was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center for a precautionary evaluation. Child Protective Services was notified and as part of the safety plan for the child, he was released to his grandfather.
