Pa. Inmate Serving Life For Md. Murder Now Slated For Trial In Teen's Beating Death
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A south-central Pennsylvania man serving a life term in one murder case is heading to trial after rejecting a plea deal in the 1995 murder of a teenager.
Fifty-one-year-old Jeffrey Miles of State Line was sentenced to life without parole in Franklin County in November in the 2010 stabbing death of 29-year-old Kristy Hoke of Hagerstown, Maryland.
District Attorney Matt Fogal said in court Tuesday that he offered Miles a concurrent life sentence in the 1995 beating death of 17-year-old Angie Daley of Waynesboro. Miles rejected the plea and is scheduled for trial in September.
Authorities said Daley's skeletal remains were found the same day Hoke's body was recovered in a remote area of Waynesboro. Miles testified that he didn't intend to kill Hoke but had smoked crack for days.
