Overheated Cords Under Carpet Caused Fire That Killed Elderly Woman

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Overheated electrical cords underneath a carpet caused the Saturday morning fire that left a 90-year-old woman dead, according to the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Polly Taylor's Denison Street home went up in flames Saturday night, and she died of smoke inhalation and thermal injuries Sunday morning.

It was the city's third deadly fire in less than a week.

Neighbors tell WJZ the woman lived in that home for decades.

Earlier in the week, two sets of Baltimore siblings died in separate fires on N. Clinton Street and Dorton Court.
