Orioles Pie Supplier Confirms: Adam Jones Used Pie On Wieters, Not Cake

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's become a winning tradition for the Orioles but after owners said "no more pies in the face," we thought the celebration was over---until Adam Jones defied that ban Monday night.

Marcus Washington has more on Jones' reaction and what the makers of the pies are saying.

It was back in late February when that ban was announced that no player would hit another in the face with a pie after a win. Adam Jones alluded that he wasn't planning to end the tradition on Twitter. Monday night, he showed us.

The Orioles won their first game of the season against the Minnesota Twins and that tradition we all thought was over was brought back to life when Adam Jones hit Matt Wieters in the face with a pie.

Remember, the Orioles put a ban on the pie in the face back in late February.

"I plead the fifth," Jones said. "I think it was definitely exciting that people got to see it last night."

Matt Wieters said he had no complaints and Jones gave him a heads up.

"I don't know whether it was him just rebelling or whether it was maybe a one last show but we'll see. He has to keep everyone on his toes," Wieters said.

"We did take one cream pie. I guess in the back of our minds, we're hoping, well, maybe Adam Jones will need it and he did, so it was just great," said Mary Wortman, Dangerously Delicious Pies.

Two seasons ago, Dangerously Delicious Pies started sending over the pies for Adam to use. The owners say they don't know if this is the end, but it's been fun.

"If it goes away, we feel it's been a great ride we've been a part of here, but we would love for it to stay," said Wordman.

"People love to see it, too, I know," Jones said. "I just plead the Fifth. You never know what can happen."

The owners of Dangerously Delicious Pies say they have never been told by the Orioles to stop sending over the pies.
