Organization Holds "Baby Shower" for New Canton Trash Wheel

BALTIMORE (WJZ)--It's almost time! The new Canton Trash Wheel is expected to be born later this year!

To ensure a health delivery, the Baltimore Waterfront is hosting a shower to bring the new trash wheel into the world.

The organization says they are just $12,000 away from installing the second wheel in the Canton area.

Tickets are currently being sold for the event, being held on September 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Baltimore Marriott Waterfront.

For just $35, "baby shower" attendees will be able to: vote for the sex of the Canton Trash Wheel, indulge in an open bar, join in on a raffle and more!

Since the original, Mr. Trash Wheel, launched in May 2014, it's collected more than 420 tons of trash and debris while running on water current and solar power.

One of the Waterfront Partnership's goals with the wheels and its other initiatives is to make the harbor swimmable and fishable by 2020.
