One Year Later, Police Searching for Leads In Killing of Ft. Meade Soldier

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still looking for clues one year after the killing of Ft. Meade solider Karlyn Ramirez.

Ramirez, who was an active member of the U.S. Army, was found shot to death inside her Severn townhome back on August 25, 2015.

Police say a neighbor realized something was wrong when they noticed Ramirez's dog running loose.

"They attempted to return the dog home and yelled inside several times for somebody to come to the door. When nobody came to the door, they found that to be suspicious," said Lt. Ryan Frashure, a spokesperson for the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

That's when police found Ramirez's 5-month-old daughter next to her mother's body.

Six months ago, authorities offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, but the case remains cold.

"$20,000 is enough to help with a new start. $20,000 is enough to move you away from whatever you're afraid of talking to," Anne Arundel County Police Chief Chief Tim Altomare. "And it's a chance at a new beginning someplace else. Let us know what they know and help us bring the killer in this case to justice.."

Lt. Frashure tells WJZ police won't rest until they find her killer.

"We continue to investigate this case and will not rest until we find Karyln's killer. We will stop at nothing to make sure justice is served and provide some closure to Karyln's family and friends."

Investigators say her husband, who is an Army sergeant, was stationed out of state at the time of the murder.

The $20,000 reward remains active in this case. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 410-222-3146.
