Officials Seek State Hospital Patient Who Left Home Visit

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Maryland are searching for a state hospital patient who walked away during a home visit in Prince George's County.

Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services officials say 49-year-old James Norris Jr., a convicted sex offender who lived at a state hospital, walked away from a court-ordered home visit on Warner Avenue in Hyattsville on Thursday afternoon. Officials say a retake warrant has been issued.

Officials say Norris was last seen wearing a black track jacket with a white stripe down the sleeves, blue jeans and New Balance sneakers.

The department's warrant apprehension unit is working with Maryland State Police, Prince George's County Police, and federal, local, and state law enforcement agencies.  A retake warrant has been issued.
