OCMD Braces For Heavy Rain, Hurricane Joaquin
OCEAN CITY, Md. (WJZ)—No matter what path Hurricane Joaquin takes Ocean City will feel its impact.

For many in Ocean City it's a flashback to Superstorm Sandy. Her unpredictability is very similar to Joaquin's and over the next couple of days this town first has to deal with the system that's bringing Nor'easter like conditions with high wind and heavy rain.
Light rain could been seen Thursday morning but winds began picking up by the afternoon.
Once the town makes it through the first system then they will worry about Joaquin which is expected to bring more heavy rain and winds gusts topping more than 100 mph.
When you start talking about these conditions a lot of people start to think about evacuations. The Mayor of Ocean City says no evacuations are in place but it has been a discussion.
"Everybody has to take this very seriously. We're dealing with mother nature, it's unpredictable and most people have seen what can happen," said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan. "Sometimes it doesn't happen, but more often than not, with a prediction of a storm like this we know we're going to be impacted. "
All outdoor activities are cancelled in Ocean City for the weekend.
Mayor Meehan says his team will continue to monitor Joaquin as they work to determine what path the storm will take.
