Ocean City To Consider 'No Profanity, Please' Signs On Boardwalk

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Resort towns like Ocean City try to cultivate a family-friendly atmosphere, but one town leader says there is too much profanity on the boardwalk.

A local news station reports that profanity has become such a problem that Council Secretary Mary Knight is calling for "No Profanity Please" signs around the boardwalk.

The proposed signs would just be a reminder to boardwalk patrons to mind their language, since police would not enforce the signs' message.

Knight's proposal will go before the police commission. If it is approved, it will then go to the Ocean City council.
