Ocean City Manager Asking Donors For Money For Boardwalk Bench Upkeep

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A number of people are upset after receiving a letter from the City Manager of Ocean City saying they have to pay up or give up a dedication for their loved ones' boardwalk bench.

A number of people paid to have them installed back in 2004, dedicating them to loved ones. Ocean City Councilman Dennis Dare says, no one thought about the cost of repairs when the program started 13 years ago.

The city manager says the benches that have been around for 10 years or more, must be repaired.

The owners have the option of either paying for the $1,100 dollar upkeep, remove the dedication, or remove the bench.
