Norfolk State Tops Morgan State 64-53

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Pendarvis Williams scored 16 points and Brandon Goode added 14 points as Norfolk State took down Morgan State 64-53 on Saturday.

Norfolk State (13-10, 7-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) overcame an early 11-6 deficit with an 11-0 run and never trailed after that point.  The Spartans took a 28-23 lead to the half and built the lead to double digits at 44-34 on a three-point play from Jamel Fuentes with 12:08 to go. Morgan State (8-13, 6-3) could not cut the deficit to fewer than eight points the rest of the way.

RaShid Gaston added 11 points and Fuentes had 10 for Norfolk State. The Spartans shot 42 percent from the field.

Justin Black led Morgan State with 16 points and Ian Chiles had 15 points, 10 rebounds and nine blocks. The Bears shot 33 percent from the field and made just 2 of 22 attempts from 3-point range.
