No. 6 Maryland Women Beat Old Dominion 95-49

ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- Brene Moseley matched her career high with 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting to help No. 6 Maryland beat Old Dominion 95-49 on Thursday night in the Paradise Jam.

Moseley also had four assists and three steals for Maryland (4-0). Shatori Walker-Kimbrough was 6 for 7 from the field and had 16 points, and Brionna Jones added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Maryland led 30-6 at the end of the first quarter.

"We were ready to play," coach Brenda Frese said. "We had a ton of energy and were really aggressive on both ends of the floor. Then, I think we settled in a little bit. Credit Old Dominion, they made a little bit of a run. I thought our depth was able to wear them out and did a better job after halftime. Brene Moseley was tremendous. She really sparked us and played a really complete game."

The Terrapins will play South Dakota State on Friday and Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Jennie Simms led Old Dominion (1-4) with 23 points.

"We had great opportunities tonight and there were great things that happened with this team. The first quarter really got us in a deep hole, but once we got past that and realized we could play with them we started to settle down and gain a little more confidence," Old Dominion coach Karen Barefoot said. "Everybody gave good energy and I thought we moved the ball very well and got the shots that we wanted against their zone. We had a few breakdowns towards the end, but all in all we were tough."

The Monarchs will face Pittsburgh on Friday and South Dakota State on Saturday.
