Another Winter Hit Makes For Slippery Roads; Colder Temperatures Coming

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Winter just won't quit. A triple threat of rain, ice and snow is in Maryland.

Colder temperatures are heading toward Maryland with lows Monday night being around 4 degrees.

Timeline:

It started out with rain late Sunday afternoon/evening. The first batch of frozen precipitation then pushed in around midnight.

Freezing rain and sleet changed over to snow early Monday morning.

Temperatures will drop dramatically and single digits are expected overnight.

It will also be a breezy night, so wind chill advisories may be issued.

Accumulations:

Total ice accumulation is expected to range from a trace to around 0.5" in spots. Roads will be slippery.

Accumulations range anywhere from 5-8" in central Maryland with higher amounts south.

So far this winter, we have received 25.7" of snow. The seasonal average is 20.1". Last winter, our area saw 8.0".

These are the accumulations so far in our area:

New Market: 7.5"

Towson: 4.5"

Westminster: 5.5"

Frederick: 6.0"

WJZ: 4.2"

Reisterstown: 4.6"

Columbia: 4.5"

Future:

Both highs and lows will be below normal on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows will be down into the single digits and teens. Thursday may be a little warmer and Friday will have temperatures in the 40s. We may see record lows on Tuesday and Wednesday.

We could reach 54 degrees by Saturday.
