Newtown Advocates Kick Off Annual Ride To Washington

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) -- Advocates of tougher measures on gun control are kicking off a third annual bike ride from Newtown to Washington.

The group, Team 26, is setting out Saturday morning on the 400-mile ride that is expected to take them four days.

The 26 cyclists are drawing attention to their campaign for measures including requiring all gun sales to be subject to a background check and a ban on high-capacity magazines.

The group is planning stops along the way in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland.

The ride will end at the steps of the U.S. Capitol Building.
