New Play Pays Homage To The Women In Edgar Allan Poe's Life

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A new theater performance will focus on writer Edgar Allan Poe's relationship with the women in his life.

The production, entitled "Mesmeric Revelations! Of Edgar Allan Poe" will explore Poe's relationship with his mother Eliza and his wife Virginia, as well as other women, some real and some drawn from Poe's work. The show will envision how those women would have developed had they lived beyond their deaths.

The performance is described not as traditional theater but as an interpretive artwork that is also interactive: Audience members will be invited to participate, and interact directly with characters.

The show opens at the Enoch Pratt House at the Maryland Historical Society on March 26.
