New Hagerstown Chief Seeks OK for 60 Police Body Cameras

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Hagerstown's new police chief is pushing ahead with a body-camera program.
The agenda for Tuesday's City Council work session includes a request from Chief Victor Brito for the purchase of 60 cameras from Taser International Inc. The department began a pilot program with six body cameras in February.
The documents show the cameras will cost $52,000, with maintenance and storage costs of about $16,000 a year.
Brito took over earlier this month. The program was begun by his predecessor, Mark Holtzman.
