New CBS News Poll Shows Clinton's Lead Is Shrinking

BALTIMORE (WJZ)—A new CBS News poll shows Donald Trump closing in on Hillary Clinton, and how headlines are affecting voter attitudes.

The poll shows a big difference between where they are now and where they were two weeks ago.

According to the newest numbers, Clinton's lead is shrinking from 9 points two weeks ago, to 3 points today--following a pattern of ups and downs that has characterized this campaign.

  • When voters were asked about recent controversies, 32% of them asked about Clinton's e-mails say they're less likely to vote for her.
  • When voters were asked about allegations of sexual assault by Donald Trump, 39% percent said they are less likely to vote for him.
  • And sentiment about voting is lukewarm--less than half polled say they're very enthusiastic, compared to 62% in 2012. Part of job is to generate enthusiasm, but 92-percent of voters polled have already made up their minds.
