Neighbors in Randallstown woken up by large house fire

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore County Firefighters continue to investigate a large fire in Randallstown on the 3600 block of Clifmar Road. Residents report seeing flames around 4:00 a.m. Friday morning.

WJZ caught exclusive video of the flames at their peak before firefighters arrived. Luckily, no one was home at the time of the fire, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.

"I was very scared because the fire was near to the fence – at our house at the window," said Ruebel Scott.

WJZ spoke exclusively with those living nearby who said they have never seen anything like this on their street in decades.

"In my room upstairs next to the fire and I heard pop, pop, pop," said Scott

Carol Parker lives a few houses down from the home and smelled smoke before rushing outside to alert her neighbors.

"When I looked out the window, I saw a house. I saw flames," said Carol Parker.

Parker's neighbors said she was one of the first people to alert everyone about the fire.

"So, I immediately ran out of the house. No shoes or just my pajamas on and I ran down the street," said Parker.

Parker told WJZ one of her only thoughts was to quickly alert everyone and help to get the elderly out of the home right next door.

"When I ran down the street, I saw that the house was engulfed in flames. And I started knocking on people's doors," said Parker.

"And I ran outside, and I tried to wake up the ladies and I ran outside to call for help, help – the neighbors come and help out with one of the bedridden patients," Scott told WJZ.

Those living on Clifmar Road said they try to help each other when they can.

"We look out for each other and when something happens, we call each other and we pull together to make sure everything is okay," said Parker.

"I thank everybody, everyone that was involved and people out of their houses and knocked on doors and everything," said longtime Cifmar Road resident Harold Wilson.

Crews were on scene for hours putting out hot spots.

No one was injured by the fire, according to fire officials. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
