Natural Resources Police Officer Injured, Involved In Shooting With Suspect

CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) — An officer fired shots after police say an SUV tried to ram the officer at a Maryland state park.

The confrontation occurred Tuesday night at Patapsco Valley State Park in the Catonsville area.

Natural Resources Police spokeswoman Candy Thomson says the officer was on his nightly rounds securing the park when he came across the SUV in a pull-off area. When the officer approached, the driver reversed and hit the officer's truck. Thomson says the officer fired two shots, but the SUV took off.

Maryland State Police, who are assisting NRP, say the officer had a minor injury.

Investigators believe the SUV was silver or a similar light color, and the suspect is described as being in his 20s with a beard and short hair.
