National Archives To Help Open DC Fashion Week

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The dusty National Archives has a certain style that's drawing interest from Washington's fashion crowd.

On Tuesday, the Foundation of the National Archives and D.C. Fashion Week will announce a new partnership to host the fashion show's opening night Sept. 24 at the National Archives.

Organizers say the fashion show ties in nicely with a National Archives exhibit exploring "signature styles" from history. The exhibit "Making Their Mark: Stories

Through Signatures" includes former first lady Jaqueline Kennedy's pillbox hat and President George H.W. Bush's cowboy boots. It also includes first lady Michelle Obama's black and red dress worn the night of the 2008 election. It was designed by Narcisco Rodriguez.

D.C. Fashion Week runs Sept. 24-28. This is the event's 10th year working to showcase Washington as a fashion center.
