Mount St. Mary's Huge Second Half Tops CCSU 87-76

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) -- Sam Prescott scored 19 points and Mount St. Mary's overcame a 15-point deficit at the half to beat Central Connecticut State 87-76 on Thursday.

Mount St. Mary's (11-14, 7-5 Northeast) went 23 of 25 at the line and outscored Central Connecticut (9-17, 5-8) 57-31 in the second half.

The game was tied at 17 when Central Connecticut went on an 18-3 run -- including 3-pointers from Kyle Vinales and De'Angelo Speech -- and the Blue Devils led 45-30 at intermission.

But Mount St. Mary's came roaring back in the second half. After head coach Jamion Christian called timeout just 2:02 in, the Mount went on a 10-2 run to cut its deficit to four. Then, with 4:04 left and up by two, a 10-1 run -- eight on made free throws, put Mount St. Mary's up by 10.

The loss breaks CCSU's 3-game winning streak.
