Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Vehicle That Fled The Scene

CROFTON, Md. (WJZ) -- A motorcyclist has died following an accident in Anne Arundel County.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Route 3 at Capital Raceway Road in Crofton.

Police say a silver van or SUV crossed two lanes of traffic, and then abruptly turned. A motorcyclist -- who may have been speeding -- crashed into the vehicle. The victim was thrown from the bike.

The van or SUV -- possibly a Ford -- then fled the scene. Police believe the driver may have headed northbound on Rt. 3.

The motorcyclist has been identified as 29-year-old Lafawn Stevens Jr. of Halethorpe.
