Motions Hearing Scheduled For Officer's Trial In Freddie Gray Case

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- Pre-trial proceedings are set to begin Friday for the next officer to face a jury in the Freddie Gray case.

Officer Edward Nero's motions hearing will be held Friday and jury selection is set to begin Monday, Feb. 22.

Nero was charged along five other Baltimore city police officers in the death of 25-year-old Gray last April.

Nero was charged with misconduct in officer, reckless endangerment and second-degree assault.

Officer William Porter was the first officer to face a jury in the case -- but his trial ended with a hung jury. The judge has scheduled a retrial for later this year.
