Montgomery County Officials To Vote On Paid Sick Leave

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- The Montgomery County Council is set to debate and vote on whether to require paid sick leave in the county.

The measure being voted on Tuesday would bring paid sick days to nearly 100,000 county residents and closely resembles legislation that has stalled in the Maryland General Assembly.

For example, it would allow workers to earn one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked, up to seven full days of paid sick leave per year.

The measure passed the Health and Human Services Committee in a 3-0 vote earlier this month.
