Montgomery County Court Commissioner Faces Sex Charge

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- For the second time in a month, a former Montgomery County court official has been charged in a sex-related crime.

Montgomery County police said in a news release Wednesday that 30-year-old former court commissioner Daniel Read used social media and text messages last year to set up a meeting with a person who said he was 15. Police say Read was actually communicating with a detective. Read is charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor.

Read's attorney, Ahmet Hisim, says his client is innocent. Hisim says Read left his job after the accusations surfaced.

A court commissioner reviews charging documents when a person is arrested and sets pre-trial release. Montgomery County court commissioner Israel Mangroo was recently accused of using his cellphone to take a picture up a woman's skirt.
